PORT NECHES — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Port Neches Riverfront Park.

A total of 25 lighted Christmas greeting cards made from wood and festively painted with holiday messages line a portion of the park. They may be viewed through Jan. 3.

Debbie Plaia, executive director of the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, said the cards are from local businesses, churches and chamber members.

This is the fourth year for Port Neches Chamber’s Christmas Cards in the Park.

“It keeps growing each year,” Plaia said of the cards. “And we have new and exciting things to add to this next year.”

The park is located at the corner of Merriman Street and Grigsby Avenue in Port Neches. Persons wishing to view the cards should enter through the Merriman Street side and exit through to Grigsby Avenue.

“The best time to see the cards is at dusk and after,” she said.

In addition to the Christmas Cards in the Park, the city’s annual Christmas Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. This years’ event will return to starting at Port Neches Avenue and ending at Port Neches Riverfront Park.

“We have our Christmas parade this Saturday and local businesses will be open for holiday shopping,” she added.
