Joseph Earl Tackwood won his journey and went to be with The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 8, 2015.  He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who came in contact with him. His smile will live in the hearts of many forever.  Joseph was a quiet man, tall in stature with a Texas size heart of gold. He had a beautiful singing voice and possessed a special gift of being helpful and a faithful servant.
Joseph was born on February 18, 1947 in Houston, Texas to Lolis Clarence & Mildred Tackwood.  He received his formal education from schools in Houston, TX and Compton, CA. He relocated from California to Port Arthur, TX and was retired from Park Place Hospital and the City of Port Arthur, where he dedicated his time to serving the people throughout the city.  Over the years, he continuously performed random acts of kindness by helping and being a servant to others.
Joseph joined Prosperity Baptist Church in Los Angeles, Ca. at a young age where he was very active in the choir.  Joseph was a heartfelt, devout Christian man who wholeheartedly served the Lord, his church and others.  Prior to his recent health challenges, Joseph selflessly gave his time and experiences to being a proud member of Harvest Time Bible Church.
Preceding Joseph in death were his parents and three brothers, Lolis Clarence, Jr., Frank and Roy Lee.
He leaves to mourn his passing yet cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Trina Drake Tackwood; three daughters, Shantell & Ratousha Tackwood, and Cametra Thomas; two sons, A. Jeremiah Drake (LaDonna) and Patrick Hope; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild; four sisters, Mable Gage and Sylvia Thomas of Houston, TX, Linda Tackwood and Mary Nelson of Long Beach, Ca; one brother, Ivory Tackwood of Hawthorne, Ca; mother and father-in-law, Curley Drake, Robert and Mary Frazier; two sister-in-laws, LaWonda Drake and Jodie Simon- Glaze, one brother-in-law, Kennethray Drake; God- son, Sterlyn Glaze and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Harvest Time Bible Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
