PA boil water advisory lifted

A boil water advisory put in place Sunday by Port Arthur officials after a water main was broken has been lifted.
The Port Arthur residents who are in the Hwy 73 to 4th Street between Hwy 82 and Taft Avenue, this includes the West side of Port Arthur and Sabine Pass to the East side of Port Arthur to Hwy 366 areas. Residents of the affected areas no longer have to boil their water.
Restaurants are allowed to re-open for business, Port Arthur’s Health Department has announced.
The notice went into place as a precautionary measure due to a risk of contaminants entering the water distribution system through the broken water main.
Dr. Jimmie Johnson confirmed mid-morning Wednesday that tests showed improved water quality, adding that “customers can use their tap water for all purposes.”
Johnson did recommend, however, that residents empty any ice in an automatic dispenser, and allow three cycles to run before using ice. Allowing water to run for a few minutes also is suggested.
The health department would like to thank all the businesses for your patience and cooperation during this difficult time. Please make sure that the guidelines for reopening have been followed.
