LU eliminated from SLC Tourney contention

BEAUMONT – The Lamar University volleyball team fell to Southeastern Louisiana 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-18) Saturday afternoon in the final road contest for the Cardinals, who were eliminated from postseason contention with the loss, at the University Center in Southland Conference action.
With the loss, LU fell to 13-15 on the season and 3-11 in league play, three games behind Lions (12-16, 6-8), who hold the eighth and final spot for the Southland Conference Tournament, with just two games to play in the season.
Cortney Moore led Lamar for the second-straight match in kills with six, followed by Chelsea Grant’s five. Each had only one error, and Moore had 23 swings (.217) and Grant had 13 (.308). Autumn Taylor had a .167 attack percentage with four kills in the match, and Caryln Stella followed with three along with Amy Hollowell.
Lamar returns to McDonald Gym on Thursday against Houston Baptist, and the season finale will be on Saturday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Saturday’s match will be Senior Day for the Cards, who honor senior Cortney Moore and Jenna Jackson.
