Be a part of something special by helping spread the word about the upcoming free veterans legal advice events! It is only with the help of the community that we can ensure we reach veterans who are in need of legal services.
To honor local veterans and to commemorate Veterans Day, the Jefferson County Bar Association (JCBA) will host the following events for Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Chambers, and Liberty County veterans and spouses of deceased veterans from these counties on the following dates:
- Free Jefferson County Expanded Legal Advice Clinic, Saturday, November 7, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Rogers Park Community Center, 6540 Gladys, Beaumont.
- Free Legal Advice Clinic for Student Veterans, Thursday, November 12, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Lamar University-Setzer Student Center, 4400 S. MLK Pkwy., Beaumont.
- Free VA Benefits/Disability Claims Seminar, Friday, November 13, noon, Beaumont VA Outpatient Clinic, 3420 Veterans Circle, Beaumont.
Appointments are encouraged by calling the bar office at (409) 835-8647, but walk-ins will be welcome.
Volunteer attorneys will be available to provide legal advice to all veterans attending on issues such as family law, wills and probate, consumer issues, landlord/tenant law, bankruptcy, employment, foreclosures, and veterans’ benefits and disability claims. For veterans needing legal representation and who financially qualify, Pro Bono attorneys will be assigned. The guidelines allow for veterans to have income up to 125 percent above the poverty level and qualify for services. The clinics are open to any Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Liberty or Chambers County veteran or spouse of a deceased veteran free of charge.
