Nederland High student arrested on gun-at-school charges

On October 15, 2015 at approximately 10:15 a.m. the Nederland Police Department responded to a call at Nederland High School regarding a person leaving the school building and in possession of a firearm. School officials notified the police that the suspect was a part time student at Nederland High School identified as Chase Alan Petitjean, according to a press release from the Nederland Police Department.

A short time later police located Petitjean near the intersection of Spurlock Road and 18th Street. Petitjean did not have a firearm on his person, however officers were able to locate two 9 millimeter pistols behind a building in the immediate area. One of the pistols was loaded, the other was not and was not functional. Petitjean admitted to officers the pistols were his and that he had carried them on school property, the press release stated.

Petitjean is currently under arrest for Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon in a Prohibited Place, 3rd degree felony.
