Groves man recovering from shooting, suspect jailed

GROVES — An 18-year-old Groves man is behind bars on charges of shooting another man on Wednesday.

Groves City Marshal Norman Reynolds Jr. said they received a call at about 1:35 p.m. Oct. 14 in reference to a shooting inside a home in the 3700 block of Graves.

“The first officer on scene secured the (suspect’s) weapon and took the suspect into custody and performed first aid on the victim,” Reynolds said.

Officers found that there was an unknown argument between the 18-year-old suspect and the 41-year-old victim prior to the shooting which occurred in the home the suspect shares with his grandmother.

Reynolds said the victim was shot twice in the lower leg with s small caliber rifle. The man was transferred to a local hospital for treatment and released a few hours later.

“We interviewed multiple witnesses and arrested the suspect on scene. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,” Reynolds said.
