PAPD investigates two armed robberies

Port Arthur Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within hours of each other late Monday and early Tuesday morning.

Police were first called to the Westside Grocery, 1200 W. Seventh St. at about 9:52 a.m. Oct. 12. Prior to their arrival they learned that a suspect had allegedly fired a shot at the store clerk, according to a press release from PAPD.

The suspect, described as a black male, entered the store armed with a handgun and threatened the clerk before robbing the store and leaving with an undetermined amount of money.

A second armed robbery occurred shortly after 1 a. m. Oct. 13 at Motel 6, 3838 Texas 73.

Police learned a black male had entered the business armed with a handgun and threatened the clerk. He was able to obtain property from the clerk then fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

No injuries were reported in either crime and the case remains under investigation.
