Ernest “Mickey” Joseph Venable, Jr. 83, of Groves passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at his residence.
Mickey was born September 17, 1932 in Port Arthur to the late Ernest J. Venable Sr. and Amy Broussard Venable.
Mickey was retired from Texaco/Star as a supervisor with 42 years of service.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
A gathering of the family and friends will begin at 12:00 until the service time at 1:00 pm at the church,
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Champagne and her husband, Lester; Verna Borel and her husband, Joe.
He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Betty Venable of Groves; sons, Steve Venable, Randy Venable, Terry Venable and wife, Angie all of Groves, Kevin Venable of Clear Lake, Michael Venable of Houston; grandchildren, Cara Walker and husband, Michael, Jordana Steward and husband, Matthew; Josh Venable, Halie Harrington and husband, Todd; great grandchildren, Colton Collins, Noah Walker and Hendrix Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family requested that memorial contributions be made to St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur or St. Jude Children Hospital.
