IRVING (AP) — The Cowboys have signed defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford to a five-year, $45 million contract extension that could keep him with Dallas through 2020.
Crawford tweeted a picture of himself signing the contract at the team’s headquarters Saturday. A third-round pick in 2012, Crawford is going into the final year of his four-year rookie deal. The new contract has $25.7 million in guaranteed money.
The 25-year-old Crawford missed the 2013 season after tearing an Achilles tendon early in training camp. He bounced between defensive end and tackle early in his career before settling into the interior last season, finishing with 37 tackles and three sacks in 15 starts.
Crawford could form a young core on the defensive line with ends DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, second-round picks the past two drafts.
