‘One-stop shop’ becomes Veterans Administration care provider

Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. is expanding its “one-stop shop” of medical care, testing and pharmacy services to veterans enrolled in the Veterans Choice Program.

The company recently became a Veterans Administration health care provider and is encouraging all Southeast Texas veterans to check with their health provider to see if they qualify for care at one of its six locations in Jefferson, Hardin, Jasper and Orange counties.

Susan Anaya, Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. Community Health Department supervisor, said the Veterans Choice Program connects veterans to primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care, and mental health care within their own communities.

“We’re very excited to accept Veterans Choice Program referrals from the Veterans Administration,” Anaya said Friday. “As an official VA care provider now, we’ll be able to offer our service men and women full general medical care, behavioral health services and specialty care — all right here at home.”

Anaya said veterans wishing to use the Gulf Coast Health Center services will need to call the number on the back of their VCP cards to notify the program before their visit.

“It’s similar to calling your regular health insurance provider to let them know which in-network doctor you’d like to use for your primary care physician,” Anaya said. “They just have to call the number on the back of their VCP cards to let them know they’d like to come see us for care.”

Anaya said the VCP veterans will be able to use many of the Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. services, which include family practice, pediatrics, women’s health, dental, behavioral health and primary health, as well as the in-house and pharmacy.

“We’re really a one-stop shop,” Anaya said. “We serve Southeast Texas by providing quality, affordable and accessible care, and we provide all of our services in six locations.”

Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. offers services in the following locations:

  • 2548 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur
  • 601-B W. Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard St. in Port Arthur
  • 1100 Jefferson Drive in Port Arthur, for children only
  • 103 W. Gibson Suite 110 in Jasper
  • 1301 W. Park Ave. Suite C in Orange
  • 710 Hwy 327 East in Silsbee

A Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. mobile medical van travels to Beaumont twice a week. The mobile unit visits Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 3920 W. Cardinal Drive, on Thursdays and to Some Other Place on the corner of Second and Fourth streets on Wednesdays.

Anaya said Gulf Coast Health Center, Inc. accepts patients with no insurance, private insurance, Medicaid, CHIP and veterans enrolled in the VCP.
