Charles V. “Junior” Hanson III

Published 4:20 pm Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Charles began life as the oldest child of Adeline “Tootsie” and Charles V. “Swede” Hanson II.  He was followed by his three siblings, Barbara Jean Smithy, Arthur Edward Hanson and David Albright Hanson.
Junior attended Trinity Lutheran elementary school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  He then left for Korea in order to proudly serve his country as a member of the armed forces during the Korean conflict. After returning home, his next destination was Waco, Texas where he earned his BBA degree at Baylor University.
After Baylor, it was back to Port Arthur where he realized that his “hearts’ desire” was to go back to work at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.  He had first started working there at the tender age of l4, doing odd jobs and helping out.  It then became his life’s dream to own Clayton Thompson and eventually that dream was fulfilled in l964.  For all these many years he has been able to serve his community through his beloved funeral home.  For the last forty of those years he accomplished this with his wife, Rochelle, by his side.
His was truly “A Life Well Lived”.
Visitation for family and friend will on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 8, 2015 in the Thompson Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev Tim Dinger and Rev. J. C. Corkran officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with a Masonic graveside service.
