Ivy Cluelow

Ivy Cluelow, 90, of Port Arthur died Thursday, July 9, 2015. She was born on August 22, 1924, in Yoevil, Somerset, England, to William and Ivy White.
Ivy joined the British Army at 17 years of age and she was an anti-aircraft spotter in the Battle of Britain during WWII. Soon after the war ended she married James Cluelow and lived in Europe about a year before leaving for the United States. She was an avid bowler in Park Place and Park Central Bowling Alleys. Ivy qualified for the state tournament several times and was state champion in 1965. She also enjoyed going back home to England to visit her Mother, sisters, and brothers.
Survivors include her sons, James Gary Cluelow and his wife, Denise, of Groves and P.W. Mark Cluelow and his wife, Judy Ann, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Tammy Danks and her husband, Scott, of Nederland; Jennifer Vickery and her husband, Paul, of Austin; Chrissi Davis and her husband, Travis, of New Bern, North Carolina; and Cori Cluelow of Port Neches; four great-grandchildren, Grant Danks, Jackson & Weston Vickery and Collyn Cluelow; sisters, Joan Medlin, Phyllis Hicks, Shirley Evans, Lynn Gaylord, and brother, Tony White, all of England.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Pearl Smith, brothers Jack and Graham White, and husband, James Garland Cluelow.
The Family would like to thank the staff at the Alzheimer’s Unit at Cypress Glenn Nursing Home for the care they provided Ivy.
A gathering of Mrs. Cluelow’s family and friends will be at 2:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Cluelow’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701, or to a charity of one’s choice.
