Decomposed body identified as female

An initial pathology report shows the badly decomposed body found on Old Yacht Club Road on Monday is that of a female.
“The initial pathology report can identify the body only as a female,” Port Arthur Police Maj. Raymond Clark said. “The report does not distinguish race, weight, age or ethnicity.”
Further details about the body are not available as the pathologist continues testing.
The body was located in a field about 500 feet north of the roadway by workers walking along Old Yacht Club Road towards the Veterans Memorial Bridge when they noticed “something strange in the brush area,” according to police.
The workers called police when they realized they had found an extremely decomposed body.
Clark said the case is currently being investigated as a homicide because it could be several different scenarios such as suicide, or murder.
Police do not know how long the body had been in the field or when the person died.
