Thanks to a recent $2,500 donation from BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC, Groves Public Library has purchased a number of current award-winning books for children and young adults. According to children’s librarian Louella Doucet, selections were made from the 2015 Lone Star Reading List, Texas Bluebonnet Award 2015-2016 Master List, 2015 2X2 Reading List, 2015 TAYSHAS Reading List, and 2015-2016 Tejas Star Reading List. In addition, 2015 Michael L. Printz Award, 2015 Robert F. Sibert Award, 2015 Newbery Award, 2015 Caldecott Award, 2015 Giesel Award and 2015 Belpre Award.
Library director Deborah Harper points out that the Tejas Star Reading List books are bilingual, adding to the library’s growing collection of bilingual books for children and adults. Harper notes that Carol Hebert, BASF’s community and government affairs manager, has been consistently responsive to the library’s needs and adds, “We couldn’t ask for a better community partner than BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals.”
Companies or organizations interested in becoming community partners may call Director Harper at 962-6281. Harper notes that one way individuals can have a significant impact on the library’s collection is to donate money for books in honor or memory of an individual.  The library website, groveslibrary.org, has information.
