HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police say a father has been accused in the beating death of his 3-year-old son after the boy had potty training accidents.
Harris County jail records show 24-year-old Anthony Trakemon Powell was being held without bond Tuesday on a capital murder charge. His son died Friday at a hospital.
Powell’s sister, 23-year-old Prosha Land, was charged with injury to a child by omission. Investigators say Land witnessed the beatings.
Court records show Powell on May 10 picked up his son from the boy’s mother in Jasper. Powell allegedly used his hands and a belt to strike the boy when the child wet himself.
Land called 911 last Thursday when the boy had trouble breathing.
Her bond is $260,000. Online jail records don’t list attorneys to speak for the defendants.
