UM Army looking for people to help

The UM Army is looking for work to do while in Southeast Texas during a five-day period in July. During that time youth volunteers perform minor home repairs for homeowners who are physically and financially unable.
United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by Youth, a group of volunteers from Methodist Churches will be in the area from July 27 until July 31 to assist the homeowners. The local host group is Port Arthur’s United Methodist Temple.
But first, the group is looking for people who need their help.
During youth mission trips, they group performs new construction such as wheelchair ramps, handrails, hanging doors, shelving, steps, wooden porches, dry wall and screen doors.

Repair projects include replacement or installation of floor boards, window glass, rotten exterior wood, porches, saggy floors and screens.
The group will also perform yard work, painting, yard clean-up and house cleaning.
They won’t, however, do plumbing and electrical projects, new home construction, work on rental property, major roof repairs, appliance repair and third story painting.
All work is done free of charge with funding from the volunteers and donations.
