School and community officials in the area are gearing up to host summer feeding programs for children.
These programs are an important nutritional supplement for children 18 years old and younger, providing breakfast and lunch to continue the federally provided access to meals these children receive through school breakfast and lunch programs.
These meals are provided at no cost to children 18 and younger regardless of their economic circumstances.
Port Arthur Independent School District sponsored programs will serve meals at select schools on Mondays through Thursdays from June 2 through July 16. Triangle Community Outreach will also operate several meal sites during the summer.
A program kick-off celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 8 at Barbara Jacket Park.

• Memorial High School — June 8 through July 16, Monday through Thursday, 7 to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
