Summer feeding program kickoff set for June 8

Summer is right around the corner; it’s time to think about keeping children eating healthy while school is out.  Port Arthur Independent School District provides free meals to children during the summer.

Summer Breakfast & Lunch will be from June 8 to July 16 at Tyrrell Elementary, Memorial High School, Travis Elementary, and Washington Elementary, Wheatley School. There is no cost to attend.  More information is available at 409-989-6124, www. paisd.org

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like PAISD to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. Any child under age 18 may come and eat. This summer, meals will be served at Tyrrell Elementary, Memorial High School, Travis Elementary, Washington Elementary, and Wheatley School.  we will operate Monday – – Thursday; Elementary sites 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Breakfast and Lunch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., High School site 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for Breakfast and Lunch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wheatley School site will go from June 2 to July 2, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Breakfast and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch.  For more information about the national Summer Food Service Program, visit http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/summer.
