PORT NECHES — A prime piece of real estate close to Port Neches-Groves’ Indian Stadium and a quick stroll away from the river will soon be divided into nine lots for the construction of new homes.
Port Neches resident Brent Powers, with the assistance of his father Johnny Powers, plans to place the new homes on a plot of land along Merriman Street and Avenue C. The five lots along Merriman Street are, according to a real estate sign on the property, range in size from 122-feet by 55-feet to 122-feet by 64.64-feet while the four lots on the Avenue C side feature larger, deeper lots of 285-feet by 65-feet and one slightly smaller lot at 285-feet by 64.8-feet.
All nine of the lots are currently spoken for and there is a waiting list just in case someone changes their mind, Johnny Powers said.
“I love this side of town,” the father said. “It’s quiet and people aren’t in a big hurry.”
The homes will range in price from $150,000 to $300,000.
“Some of the lots, facing Merriman, are a little bit smaller while the ones facing Avenue C are larger,” he said. “My son was planning on constructing spec homes along Merriman but decided against it. All nine of these lots are already wanted.”
The Powers are working with Realtor Kirby Smith who, in turn, is working with prospective buyers and home plans.
Taylor Shelton, Port Neches director of public works, said the last new subdivision was the Thomas-Haven Subdivision around 2010.
