Green Party re-established in county

Published 3:46 pm Friday, May 8, 2015

As of 29 April this year the Jefferson County Green Party is officially re-established despite a hiatus. The JCGP is affiliated with the Green Party of Texas and the Green Party of the United States and will work towards bringing economic, social, political, and environmental justice to the good people of Jefferson County, whom we hope to serve.
We recognize and relish the opportunity and challenge it will be to prove to the people of Jefferson County that we will bring effective change to our community and help it grow. We will challenge the perception that the Green Party is a single-issue party, and show the community that we are capable, dedicated, and willing to do what is necessary to gain their trust.
The Jefferson County Green Party also hopes to establish branches in the Southeast Texas area in counties like Orange, Jasper, and Newton in the hopes of spread! ing our message beyond the borders of our community. Interested persons should contact Aaron Renaud on Facebook for help with organizing in your own community.
Lastly, the JCGP seeks to find candidates to run in a variety of elections both in Jefferson County and potentially the 14th Congressional District, which encompasses our county and parts of several others. Interested persons should contact John Rutherford, Temporary Party Chair of the Jefferson County Green Party.
