Jack Alton Austin

   Jack A. Austin, 77, of Nederland, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Christus Hospital, St. Mary, Port Arthur. He was born February 19, 1935, to Annie and Howard Austin, Sr. in Port Arthur, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Jack was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a Master Craftsman with Star Enterprise, and retired after forty-two years of employment. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved nature.  He was known as somewhat of an inventor, and liked to build things for his family and friends.

   Survivors include his wife, Genell Austin of Nederland; daughter, Christy Babino of Nederland; son, Kevin Austin and his wife, Diane, of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren, Matthew Babino, Christopher Babino, Kevin Austin II, and Alyssa Austin; and brother, Howard Earl “Skip” Austin, Jr. of Hemphill.

   Jack is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Thelma Pat Yoast, and Loretta Smith.

   A gathering of Mr. Austin’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with Rosary to be recited 6:00 p.m., Friday, January, 4, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
