Mid-County Babe Ruth wins again

Needing a victory to clinch the second seed from the National Division, the Mid-County 17-18 Babe Ruth All-Star came through with flying colors, beating Lansing, Ill. 4-0 and finishing pool play with a 3-1 record at the Babe Ruth World Series in Weimer on Wednesday.
Mid-County will advance to the elimination bracket, playing the third-place team from the American Division pool Thursday at 5 p.m.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Alex Blem got the start for Mid-County, pitching two strong innings before giving way to high school teammate Dillon Young, who pitched the next two. Nederland’s Jacob Pitts added two shutout innings before Ozen’s Trevan Thomas closed things out in the seventh.

LC-M’s Zach Drouillard added a two-run triple, while Bride City’s Bryce Sampere had a double. LC-M’s Reid Fults also had an RBI single while Thomas scored the game’s final run.
