Jans Eugenie Elisabeth “Jean” Flohr

   Jean Flohr, 84, of League City, formerly of Mid- County, died Sunday, January 22, 2012.  Born July 23, 1927, to Joane Cathrien Jackson and Marinus Jacobus Paul Mesker, in Probolinggo, Soerabaia, Indonesia, she was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1963. Jean enjoyed a variety of needlework, had a green thumb with flowers and enjoyed traveling world-wide.  Entertaining her family and friends and her church family were extremely important to her.

   Jean is survived by her children, Pamela Rose Flohr of League City and her twin brother, Glen Flohr of Ohio, Jeanette Short and her husband, Steve of League City and Cisca Sheppard and her husband, Todd of Port Arthur; grandchildren, Kandi Champion, Paul Daigle, Emilie Tydings, Aaron Flohr, Adam Flohr, Zach Flohr, Bianca Flohr, Michelle Sheppard, and Bryan Sheppard; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie and Rudy both of Holland; two sisters Von and Norie  both of California; and a host of nieces and nephews from both the United States and Holland.

   She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Flohr; son, Peter Flohr; and brother, Ulri Mesker.

    A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening,  January 25, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Griffing Park, Port Arthur, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, under the direction of Broussard’s.
