The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has concluded that a cell phone found near a soccer field in theLabelle-Fannett area does not belong to missing teen Sharon West.

Deputy Rod Carroll said the phone was found near the Seabreeze Youth Soccer Club in the Labelle-Fannett area Tuesday afternoon during a search lead by the Labelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department.

Sharon West, who turned 15 on Aug. 26, was last seen at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at a residence in the Labelle-Fannett area. The juvenile was staying with a family friend when she was reported missing.

Sharon West’s mother, Sandra West, has hired a private investigator out of Austin to assist in the search. The investigator, Chuck Foreman, is working for the mother pro bono, Carroll said.

During the past month since her disappearance there have been aerial, foot and waterway searches concentrating on the area the teen was last reported to have been.

West is described as a “Facebook junkie” by a friend and made daily posts to her page. She has not made a post since her disappearance and her cell phone is turned off and has not been used since her disappearance, Carroll said.

The National Center for Missing/Exploited Children is listed West’s disappearance as “missing endangered.” A representative from the center is working with local law enforcement in the search.

Earlier this month Beaumont Crime Stoppers announced they are offering a $1,000 reward for tips leading to the location of West.

Last week deputies visited the homes of registered sex offenders in Jefferson County attempting to West.

The missing teen is described as a white female, 5-foot 6-inches in height and weighs 115 pounds. She is of small build, her hair color is deep red on top and purple underneath. She has a mole beneath her left eye.

Persons with tips on West’s whereabouts can call NCMEC toll-free at 1-800-THE-LOST.
