Hampton “Dune” Dennis

  Hampton “Dune” Dennis was born in Goudeau, Louisiana on April 11, 1949 to Jesse Dennis and Asimae Hatch Dennis McDaniel Alfred. Hampton was the fourth born of his parents. He was a member of Friendly Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. C.S. Johnson of Dallas, Texas, where he resided at time of death.

  Hampton was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School. He joined the United States Air Force May 1968 to April 1972.

   In the most recent years, he worked as a truck driver on the east coast until relocating to Dallas. A few years ago he was forced into retirement as a result of an accident. Hampton departed this life on May 6, 2011.

   Hampton was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Dennis Sr. and Asimae Hatch McDaniel Alfred; a brother Jesse Dennis Jr.; nephew, Timothy Crout, and (3) aunts and (6) uncles. Hampton is survived by his wife, Penny Williams Dennis; (5) children, Alisha Mouton of Groves, TX, Jonathan Fryer of San Antonio, TX, Sonnii Mahari and Kidane NuKruma McBride of Lakeland, FL and Bertha Latrice Crawl of Buffalo, N.Y.; (9) grandchildren; (3) sisters, Mary Louise Dennis Pierre (Herman) Port Arthur, TX, Ella Denise McDaniel (Doc) Port Arthur, Jacqueline Dennis Ballou (James) Seattle, WA; Uncle, J.C. Hatch (Diana), Francis Hatch Taylor (Andrew), Irene Hatch, Fannie Hatch and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loyal friends and his best friend, Max.

   Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
