Donald Eugene Stevenson, 73, of Nederland died April 4, 2011.  Born November 29, 1937 in Lodi, California, he was the son of Monetta L. Chambers Stevenson and Irl V. Stevenson.  Donald had been a resident of Nederland since 1976 and was a construction superintendent.

   Donald was a member of First Baptist Church, Nederland, Pipefitters Local 195, Master Mason with South Park #1320, and 32nd degree Scottish Rite and El Mina Shriner out of Galveston.  He loved to host family gatherings, where he displayed his cooking skills and looked forward to attending his grandchildren’s ballgames, recitals, dances and concerts.  Each weekend he looked forward to working in his yard and orchard.  You could always find him traveling his yard in his golf cart with his dog, Fancy.

   Survivors include his wife, Judy Stevenson of Nederland; son, Scott Stevenson and his wife Laurie of Nederland; daughter, Cindy Laird and her husband Mike of Nederland; sisters, Irleen  Guidry and her husband John of Port Neches and Rita Potts and her husband Robert of Kyle; grandchildren, Erica Stevenson, Jill Stevenson, Chris Laird and Brandon Laird; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Fancy.

   Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue,  Nederland followed by burial at Memory Gardens under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday evening, April 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
