SP man critical after car-motorcycle crash

A 37-year-old Sabine Pass man is hospitalized in critical condition after a crash on Texas 87 at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Sabine Pass resident was southbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle near the Golden Pass LNG plant when a northbound Chevy Cobalt made a left turn into the plant in front of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the right front side of the vehicle, causing the rider to be ejected. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont by State-Care EMS.

The Chevy Cobalt was being driven by a 19-year-old Sulphur, La., man who was not injured. The case is under investigation and a Port Arthur Police Department said charges against the driver are pending.
