Freeze warning in effect for Thursday night

A strong Arctic cold front moving through on Thursday will leave very cold temperatures in the nights ahead.
Near record low temperatures are expected Thursday night in some locations with temperatures in the low 20s in Central Louisiana and mid-to-upper 20s along the Interstate 10 corridor with freezing temps along the coast.
A hard freeze watch is in effect for areas along and north of Interstate 10. This will likely be upgraded to a warning by Thursday afternoon.
The National Weather Service-Lake Charles advises residents not to forget the ā4 Pās,ā which are pets, pipes, plants and people.
Strong northerly winds will follow behind the arctic front Thursday afternoon and night. Small craft should exercise caution on coastal lakes and bays. A small craft advisory in effect for the offshore waters for Thursday afternoon and night.
