Port Arthur juvenile to stand trial as adult

ose Brione II, a 15-year-old member of the “Norte 14” criminal street gang, was certified as an adult on May 15 to stand trial on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary of a habitation, according to the Port Arthur Police.

The certification is a result of months of investigation by the Port Arthur Street Crimes Unit in conjunction with Jefferson County Juvenile Probation and the Jefferson County District Attorney.

Sgt. Scott Gaspard of the PAPD said the certification and anticipated prosecution is evidence of the various departments working together to make the community safe. The Port Arthur Police Department, with the cooperation of all are agencies, said they are continuing its efforts to identify and prosecute all gang members.
