Dayton demolishes Ozen, 48-6

BEAUMONT — Michael Dugat ran for two touchdowns and Paul Fontenot grabbed two of quarterback Cody Green’s three touchdown passes Friday night as Dayton pulled away from Ozen in the second half enroute to a 48-6 District 22-4A victory.

The Broncos, now 2-0 in district play, scored 34 unanswered points in the second half, after leading 14-6 at halftime. It was 41 unanswered points in all for Dayton, following a London Durham touchdown in the second quarter than pulled the winless Panthers within 7-6.

Dugat rushed 13 times for 136 yards, including TDs of 9 and 7 yards. Fontenot caught scoring strikes of 15 and 26 yards from Green, who completed 13-of-17 passes for 117 yards. Zachary Favela grabbed the third touchdown pass of four yards.

The Broncos also had two touchdowns on returns — Joe Carter’s 65-yard jaunt with a punt in the third quarter and A.J. Dugat’s 44-yard dash with a picked-off pass in the fourth. David Howard added six extra points for the victors.

Dayton, which is 3-2 overall, has outscored its two victims in District 22-4A by the combined score of 103-9. Ozen fell to 0-2 in district and 0-5 on the season.
