NEDERLAND — With still no word on the reason why Nederland High School Principal Randy Lupton has been absent from his post for more than a week, the NISD board of trustees released an agenda Friday afternoon listing a closed session for board members to “deliberate a personnel matter.”

The closed session will take place during a regular board meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the NISD Administration Building, 220 17th Street.

Earlier this week NISD Superintendent Gail Krohn said Lupton’s disappearance from his campus was a personnel issue and not up for discussion.

In Lupton’s absence, Krohn said Assistant Principal Jerry Mallory has been serving as the NHS principal.

During Monday’s closed session, the trustees are scheduled to deliberate on the posted personnel matter and if necessary consult with the district’s attorney regarding any legal aspects pertaining to the matter.

The school district said “no action, decision or vote is anticipated” during the meeting.

Any action on the personnel issue would be taken in open session during an upcoming meeting.

Aside from the closed session, board members are expected to discuss FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) and district policies during their monthly meeting.
