A 56-year-old Port Arthur man suffered what may have been a heart attack while driving, struck a parked car and later died Wednesday.

According to Groves police officials the man was traveling west on 32nd Street at about 9:27 a.m. and appeared to have heart problems. His 2001 Ford pickup left the roadway, went through a chain link fence and struck a parked car at a convenience store at the corner of 32nd Street and Taft Avenue.

He was transported to Renaissance Hospital where he later died. Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett has ordered an autopsy. There were no other injuries reported.
