BEAUMONT — Shopping, a tree lighting and a Mercedes will make holidays bright as Junior League of Beaumont members present another edition of A Very Merry Main Street Market.

Activities — running from Thursday, Nov. 29, through Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Beaumont Civic Center — include Early Bird shopping, cocktails and prizes galore, an annual holiday luncheon with a style show and a Gingerbread House Workshop.

Proceeds help the Junior League of Beaumont with a variety of community projects.

“The market is fast becoming a holiday event that all of the Golden Triangle looks forward to,” Jennifer Leonard Smith, Main Street Market chair, said. “We are very excited about this year’s market. We have put together a beautiful atmosphere that will provide everyone with an elegant and enjoyable shopping experience and the opportunity to support the many worthy projects of the Beaumont Junior League.”

League members say the Beaumont Civic Center will be transformed into a wonderland of Christmas shopping, featuring more than 60 vendors from around the nation showcasing an array of affordable items including clothing, jewelry, household decor, holiday items and other “surprises.”

Bonus events include a tree lighting, pictures with Santa and a chance to win a 2008 Mercedes C-300, made possible by Mike Smith Autoplex.

The tree lighting will kick off events at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. Then shoppers can enjoy a “Holiday Happy Hour” and will have a chance to win a diamond necklace donated by Matthews Jewelers in the “Dots for Diamonds” event.

A luncheon and style show will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, with an admission of $35. On Saturday, Dec. 1 children can decorate gingerbread men and get photographed with Santa for $20,

Proceeds from Main Street Market help fund the numerous projects that the Beaumont Junior League supports. Its 150 members work with organizations such as the Family Resource Center, The Women and Children’s Shelter and Morning Out Club and provide musical therapy for area nursing homes.

The Junior League of Beaumont is an organization of women committed to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Market activities will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Admission for the entire weekend is $5. Admission for children 15 and younger is free. For information, call 832-0873.
