The Groves Chamber of Commerce, through its Retail Promotion Committee, will sponsor the Annual Christmas Tree Trail to Groves to usher in the Christmas Season. Shops will serve refreshments for customers as they browse for gifts, items to decorate their homes or gourmet food to serve guests. Each of the business participating will have maps directing people to each shop. The Groves Chamber of Commerce & Tourist Center, 4399 Main Ave., will also have maps so shoppers may plan their routes.

The Lamarissimo! Concert Series will usher in the holiday season with performances by the Lamar University Grand Chorus and A Cappella Choir. Las Posadas follows the Biblical footpath of Mary and Joseph as they look for shelter on the night Christ was born. Angels and even a Roman soldier on horseback play important parts in this event. The procession continues to the boardwalk in downtown Port Arthur where a stable and manger are set up for the birth. Live animals graze as hymns are sung. The event winds down with a Christmas parade complete with a Mariachi band and Santa Claus.
