Hot things to do on summer weekend

  • Dylan’s

Head over to Mid-County this weekend for some great music as Dylan’s welcomes Todd Howard and Tightrope on stage Friday night and area cover variety act, JAG, on Saturday. Admission is charged at the door each weekend night for ages 21 and older.

Acoustic music is featured at 8:30 p.m., every Tuesday and this week’s performer is Darren McGill. Admission is free as it is on Wednesday for karaoke with Joyce Rainey. Call 409-722-1600 for details.

  • The Place

It’s a karaoke kind of weekend at The Place in Port Acres as Joyce Rainey keeps the party going this Saturday night for ages 21 and older. Admission is free. Call 409-736-2650 for information.

  • Larry’s French Market

The only thing that Larry’s French Market in Groves might be better known for than its cuisine is the live music it features nearly every weekend, and this weekend is no exception.

Sean Vidrine is slated to perform Friday night, while Billy Poullard and The Zydeco Combo are scheduled for a concert on Saturday night.

Then, next Thursday night, it’s the duo of Clint Faulk and Sherri Lynn. Call 409-962-3381 for more information.

  • The Shop

It’s a double dose of live music from Roger Ray and Storm this weekend at The Shop in Port Arthur as the group performs Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Admission is always free for ages 21 and older. Call 409-960-6449 for info.

  • Capri Club

Let the blues rock sounds of Three Legged Dawg wash over you this Saturday night at the Capri Club in Mid-County as the band makes the party last all night long. The Capri Club is a private venue and requires a $10 per year membership for ages 21 and older. Call 409-724-1030 for details.

  • Cash’s Bar and Grill

In June 2009, area rock band Forever Falls celebrated the release of its third CD, “Devil in the Details,” and now, more than a year later, the group is ready to bring that chapter to a close.

Forever Falls will perform in concert Saturday night at Cash’s Bar and Grill in Port Arthur for ages 21 and older. This is reportedly the band’s last showcase in support of that album, and the band is already hard at work on new material.

Joining Forever Falls in this special event is the new band, Sicksation, which features members of previous bands such as Trykshot, Altar Ego and Pratice. Also appearing is Loser’s Reunion from Lake Charles.

Cash’s Bar and Grill is a private venue and requires a $10 per year membership. Admission is also charged at the door for concerts. Call 409-729-6639 for details.
