Cold weather breaks in time for weekend fun

February has arrived and a large slate of national acts and big events will converge on Southeast Texas this month. Stay warm and make the most of your weekend.

Larry’s French Market

Check out the 10-piece rhythm and blues sounds of Still Cruisin, complete with a horn section, tonight at Larry’s French Market in Groves. And, for those who like a little Cajun flavor, Jackie Caillier and Cajun Cousins will deliver a heapin’ dose of music to make your feet move all night long. Capri Club

Karaoke is always the activity of choice every Friday and Thursday at the Capri Club in Mid-County, so stop by and see what the buzz is all about. Also, on Sunday, it’s a Super Bowl party like no other. The Capri Club is a private membership venue and requires a $10 per year fee to join for ages 21 and older only. Cash’s Bar and Grill

A new cover band has arrived on the scene, and it makes its debut this Saturday night at Cash’s Bar and Grill in Port Arthur as The Champagne Room performs. Fans may recognize some of the members of the group from their original band The Kinship. There’s a lot of talk about this group, and you can see it for yourself this Saturday. Cash’s is a private membership venue and requires a $10 fee per year to join. Admission is $5 at the door for members. Call 409-729-6639 for details.


Rock is definitely on the slate this weekend at Dylan’s in Port Arthur. First up is area group The Fuse, which performs beginning at 9:30 p.m., tonight. Then, on Saturday evening, it’s local rock act Image 6 performing a ton of great covers and originals for your listening pleasure. Admission is charged at the door for ages 21 and older.

Tuesday’s acoustic music artist is Lee Pelly of Knuckle Deep, who will perform from 8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m., and then, on Wednesday, it’s karaoke with Joyce Rainey. Call 409-722-1600 for more information.

Jake’s Place

The Boudain Hut

Whether it is the food or the music, you know both are enjoyable at The Boudain Hut on Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur.

Live music is featured from Creole Cookin’ tonight and Saturday, while Ridin’ High is the featured artist on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Also, karaoke is now featured from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m., every Tuesday. Call 409-962-5079 more information.

Joyce Rainey returns with her always fun karaoke starting at 8 p.m., tonight, at Big Nasty’s in Bridge City, so get there early and make the most of it.

Live music is featured from regional music group Flipside this Saturday night at Madison’s, located on Dowlen Road in Beaumont, for ages 21 and older. Admission is charged at the door. Acoustic music is featured every weekend at Goodfellas restaurant in Beaumont.

Starvin’ Marvin’s

Live music is the name of the game five nights per week at Starvin’ Marvin’s Bar and Grill in Beaumont.

The weekend party begins with music from area country music group Cheap Whiskey, while the action continues on the patio Saturday night with a performance from Midnight River Choir. The weekly open mic event is featured from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m., Tuesday.

On Wednesday, it’s the return of area cover rock group My Beautiful Disaster from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m., and, then starting at 9 p.m., Thursday, David Lee Kaiser will take the stage. Admission is always free and all ages are invited to attend. Call 409-347-0058 for information.
