Monster trucks, music and theater make for a great weekend

Party like it’s the 1980s all over again and rock out with Night Ranger this Saturday night inside the Delta Downs Event Center in Vinton, La. Tickets are on sale for $20 for ages 21 and older only, and the show starts at 8 p.m., Saturday.

The band’s last studio album, “Hole in the Sun,” was released in April 2007 and featured the single, “You’re Gonna Hear from Me.” The album’s hard rock sound was impressive and showed a revitalized Night Ranger.

The group is best known for its hits such as “(You Can Still) Rock in America,” “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,” “When You Close Your Eyes,” “Sentimental Street,” and its number one hit, “Sister Christian.” And don’t be surprised to hear the Jack Blades penned track, “High Enough,” during his stint in Damn Yankees.

Ford Park

Monster Nation will return to Ford Arena tonight, Saturday and Sunday with six monster trucks, freestyle motocross and pro arena truck racing.

The action begins at 8 p.m., tonight and Saturday, and then at 3 p.m., Sunday. Fans holding a pit pass and an event ticket will be allowed onto the floor of Ford Arena from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., tonight and Saturday, before the event, and from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Sunday.

Kids tickets are just $11 and discounted prices for groups of 10 or more area available. Tickets are available at the Ford Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. All seats are reserved and are $2 more day of show.

The Gig

The Atlanta, Ga. based band Rehab returns to Beaumont for a concert at The Gig on Saturday night for ages 18 and older. The group, touring in support of its Sept. 2010 release, “Welcome Home,” is best known for its mega-hit “The Bartender Song” and will bring its blend of southern rock, country and hip-hop to downtown Beaumont. Tickets are $18 at the door and ages 18 to 20 are subject to a surcharge.

Lutcher Theater

It only happens one weekend every three years, but this weekend is your chance to witness one of the best kept secrets in Orange.

The Service League of Orange will hold its largest fundraiser of the year this weekend at the Lutcher Theater in downtown Orange. The production, based on the theme “Hollywood Nights - A Journey Through The Movies,” is filled with glamour, glitz, and star studded appearances by local and regional performances.

Directed by Kevin and Brook Doss, the Follies is a great way to enjoy an evening of quality entertainment while helping a worthwhile organization help others.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m., tonight and Saturday, and tickets are $20 for floor seating and $10 for balcony seating.


The Jimmy Kaiser Band returns to Mid-County as the band performs in concert tonight at Dylan’s on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur. The Nederland Heritage Festival Country Music Show is set for 7 p.m., Saturday night at Central Middle School on 17th Street in Nederland. Tickets are $4 in advance at The Candle Cottage and the NHF office on Boston Avenue. Admission is $5 at the door on Saturday.

Pate Tatum and Pure Texas will be the house band for Saturday’s showcase. Other performances will include Nadia Cowart, Shanna Ferro, Mark Griffin, Skeeter Jones, Brintney Reynolds, Kasey Gunter, Brian Smith, Mike Tobias and Halie Venable.

Big Nasty’s

Loads of fun are in store for guests at Big Nasty’s in Bridge City this weekend.

You cannot get a much more diverse weekend of music than you will find tonight and Saturday at Starvin’ Marvin’s Bar and Grill in Beaumont.

Local country music group Old Trick will perform on the patio starting at 9 p.m. tonight for a night of great country fun. Then, on Saturday, it’s a trio of rock acts. Local modern rock band Forever Falls will headline this showcase. Special guests include regional act Nevermind the Darkness and Lake Charles-based band Noyola opening the show promptly at 9 p.m. Admission is always free and all ages are welcome.

A big show is on tap tonight at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie as Blake Shelton, Easton Corbin and Steel Magnolia will perform. However, the show officially sold out on Wednesday, so if you do not yet have a ticket, then you will have to wait until these artists return at a later date.

Texas Longhorn Club

Country music artist Lee Brice takes the elevated stage at the Texas Longhorn Club in Vinton, La. and ages 18 and older are welcome to attend. Orange VFW
