Walker leading Rayburn Country Open

BROOKELAND — Clear skies and cool weather welcomed players Tuesday. morning as the 2013 Rayburn Country Open got underway.      

    Through the first round, leading money winner Mark Walker of Hurst, Texas leads after posting a 7-under 64.  Walker is looking to secure POY honors as the tour season inches closer to finishing in early October.  

    One stroke back at 6-under is former Texas A&M golfer – Drew Evans of Dallas. Former Tour member – Travis Bertoni of Paso Robles, Calif is also one stroke back at 6-under-par.

    Among the players with Southeast Texas ties, Lamar University ex Casey Clendenon posted the best score of 68 and was tied for 7th. PN-G ex Andrew Landry shot 69, as did Beaumont amateur Matt Bryant. Former West Orange-Stark golfer Michael Arnaud was in at 70 and Kelly ex Anthony Broussard shot 73.
