Area netters to take the court in Sour Lake

SOUR LAKE — Southeast Texas all-star volleyball players open up quite the event Friday at Hardin-Jefferson High School.

The Southeast Texas Coaches Association hosts the volleyball matchup of east and west teams starting at 5 p.m.

Nederland’s Lady Bulldogs are set to be well represented on the east team with two players on the roster, Jaci Oliver and Kelsey Beard. Port Neches-Groves Breanne Brown and Port Arthur Memorial’s Haley Pitre are also scheduled to play and so is Bridge City’s Caylin Choate and Orangefield’s Taylor Benoit. Hamshire-Fannett’s Debbie Peltier will coach the east team.

Then, 30 minutes after the volleyball match, girls basketball all-stars will take to the court at Hardin-Jefferson. Boys all-star teams square off 30 minutes after the girls basketball game.

It all leads up to Saturday’s football all-star game that is expected to start at 7 p.m. at The Thomas Center in Beaumont.
