Nederland's Koby Couron named second team all-state

— Nederland senior defensive end Koby Couron was named to the Associated Press Class 4A all-state second team on Wednesday.

Couron had 86 tackles, including 29 for a loss, 14 sacks, three pass breakups and one forced fumble this season. The senior was also named first-team all-district and currently has a scholarship offer from Lamar.

Senior Vidor linebacker Montana Quirante was the only other area player to earn a first- or second-team nod, as the Pirate made second team with Couron. Quirante had 146 tackles, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and three interceptions this season.

Nederland had five players earn honorable mention this season. Junior defensive back Colton Kimler, who had seven interceptions this season, joins senior defensive tackle Brock Pryor, junior defensive end De Shawn Washington, senior linebacker Korbin Stampley and junior running back Kendrick Hopkins on the team.

Other honorable mentions from District 20-4A included Little Cypress-Mauriceville senior running back Alex Sezer and Beaumont Ozen junior defensive back Tony Brown. Quirante was also named honorable mention at quarterback.

Little Elm’s Ke’aun Kinner was named offensive player of the year in Class 4A after rushing for 2,763 yards and 26 TDs. Lancaster’s Daeshon Hall was named defensive player of the year after totaling 83 tackles, 16 sacks, two forced fumbles, four PBUs, three blocked kicks and 20 quarterback pressures.
