Chester Moore column: Reader outdoors questions answered

PORT ARTHUR —     A: I never heard reports of tarpon this year but it very well could have happened. Most tarpon in our region are caught from High Island toward Galveston.

Q: What is your favorite animal? If you had to narrow it down to one.

A: That’s a tough one. I will cheat and give you a land and aquatic creature. On land it’s the jaguar. They are extremely powerful, smart and beautiful. On top of that they are quite mysterious. In the water it is the great white shark. Ever since I saw “Jaws” they have fascinated me.

Q: Who do you think is the most underrated angler on the Bassmaster Elite Series tour?

A: If I had to pick one person who doesn’t get his due in terms of media coverage it would be Mark Davis. The man has won three Angler of the Year titles and a Bassmaster Classic. That puts him in a very elite group yet he rarely gets mentioned along with the greats. I think it is because he is a very quiet man who doesn’t pursue many media events.

Q: How can I watch your program “God’s Outdoors with Chester Moore”? I missed the initial broadcast last weekend.

A: You can go to and click on the “Guest and Bonus Features” link to watch Episode 1. You watch on TV in HD if you have a Roku or other device allowing you to watch HD Web TV or watch the live stream at www.get.vorg Saturdays at 10 a.m.
