Lady Pirates pound Lady Dogs, 10-1

VIDOR — The Vidor Lady Pirates proved they are the real deal out of District 20-4A with a 10-1 decision over Nederland Tuesday.

Whitney Howerton threw seven innings and gave up one earned run and struck out seven.

The lone Nederland (6-2) run came off a Nicole Matise home run in the top of the sixth inning.

Vidor (8-0) scored  five runs in the second inning and one run in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings. The Lady Pirates then scored two runs in the sixth.

Nederland pitcher Madyson Guidry gave up six hits in four innings and struck out one and walked one.

Tori Cooper, who was 1-for-4 at the plate, worked two innings on the mound and struck out two and walked four.

McKenzie Andrus had two runs and a RBI for Vidor while Keelie Milligan was 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI.

Lumberton 9, Port Neches-Groves 3

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians fell 9-3 Tuesday to the Lumberton Lady Raiders.

PN-G (9-12, 4-4) took a 2-0 lead into the third inning but Lumberton scored two in the third and fourth innings to pull away. The Lady Raiders scored five runs in the last two innings of the game.

Lumberton’s Maddi Ohlier struck out six and walked six to get the win while Kennedy Cline was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Paige Duhon was 3-for-5 with a double and a RBI for Lumberton.

Shelby Valentine got the start on the mound for PN-G and Maci Dean came in for relief in the fifth inning. Both pitchers struck out four and walked two.

Valentine was 1-for-1 at the plate while Dean was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Katie Lee was 2-for-4 with a RBI.

PN-G travels to face Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday.

Hardin-Jefferson 6, Bridge City 5

SOUR LAKE — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals dropped a tight 6-5 decision to the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks Tuesday night in District 21-3A softball action.

Kasey Frederick led the Lady Cardinals (18-7, 4-2) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in and scored a run.

Hannah Carpenter had a double and a RBI. Kaleigh Carter had a double and scored.

Faith Kaufman had a hit and scored twice and Kelsey Fults also singled.

The Lady Cardinals will host West Orange-Stark Friday.

WO-S (12-7, 1-5) fell to Buna 14-3 on Tuesday.

Orangefield 10, Hardin 0

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats stepped out of District 21-3A action by defeating the Hardin Lady Hornets 10-0 in six innings.

Lauren Stout powered the Lady Bobcats (14-3, 5-1) at the plate, going 2-for-2, including her first home run ever.

Kelsey Ancelot, Kaylie Evans, Ashton Gautreaux, Baileigh Perkins, Haley Fontenot and Maleah Saucedo all had singles for the Lady Bobcats.

Khandi Breaux nabbed another win on the mound, striking out 12.

The Lady Bobcats return to 21-3A play Friday when they visit Buna.
