Prep baseball, softball roundup

PORT ARTHUR — Titans pound Garrison, 13-3

KIRBYVILLE – Gama Martinez got the Titans going on the mound and the Port Arthur Memorial bats came alive in a 13-3 win over Garrison.

Martinez went six innings and gave up six hits with one walk and three strike outs.

Ramiro Sanchez was perfect at the plate by going 4-for-4 with a solo homer, two doubles and three RBI. Martinez was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI, Robert Howard was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI and Torian Lott was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two stolen bases. Abraham Cuevas was 1-for-2 with a RBI, Jose Perez was 1-for-4 with a RBI and Ernesto Ramirez was 1-for-2.

Lady Indians shutout Lady Jaguars, 19-0, in 3

PORT NECHES – It took only two at bats and another half inning for the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians to get back on the winning side of things in District 20-4A.

PN-G is now 7-9 overall and 2-1 after Saturday’s 19-0 win over Central.

The main story came from the mound as Madison Resch pitched a perfect game. She only needed 30 total pitches and struck out seven batters.

Tori Jackson was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, Ashton Yanta was 2-for-3 with a double and Katie Lee was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Shelby Valentine was 2-for-2 with a double, Bailey Crorey and Kennah Belaire were each 1-for-1 with a double, Avery Hooks was 2-for-3 with a  triple and Brianna Singler was 2-for-2 with two doubles.

The Lady Indians have a huge showdown Monday at 7 p.m. in Nederland.

Nederland wins two in Lufkin

LUFKIN – The Nederland Bulldogs got a go-ahead single from Brian Feltman in the sixth inning to defeat College Station, 5-3, in the team’s final game at the Lufkin Tournament.

Feltman finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and a RBI. Brett Smith was 1-for-2 with a run and a RBI while Jace Borderlon was 1-for-3 with a RBI.

Chase Kemp went all seven innings and gave up four hits with five strikeouts. He allowed no earned runs.

Nederland first defeated Marshall, 10-1, earlier Saturday behind six innings from Austin Krautz. Krautz gave up one run and six hits with three strikeouts. Krautz was 1-for-1 at the plate with two runs and a home run.

Braden Nevala was 2-for-4 with a RBI, Chase Kemp was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI, Smith finished with two RBI and a run while Feltman was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. Borderlon was 1-for-1 with two runs.

Nederland returns to action Tuesday at home against Vidor.
