— PN-G closes season with win

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves baseball team clinched the District 20-4A second seed by beating Livingston 12-3 Friday at The Reservation.

Logan Ashworth started for the Indians and picked up the victory. Catcher Yancey Foster also added a three-run home run in the sixth.

PN-G (15-12, 10-4) will play Humble Summer Creek in bidistrict play next week at a site and time to be determined.

Nederland beats Central

BEAUMONT — The Nederland baseball team capped its District 20-4A title by beating Beaumont Centra 14-0 on Friday.

Nederland used a succession of relievers in the game for one inning at a time. Korey Clark started the game and was followed by Sam Smith, Jace Bordelon, Brett Smith and Preston White.

Teammates Seth Barrow, Colton Broussard, Jordan Wood and Beau Stewart all had doubles while Jared Ramoin and White added two walks apiece.

Nederland (22-4, 12-2) will have to wait on its bidistrict opponent. Both Dayton and Crosby tied for fourth place in 20-4A and will play a tiebreaker game on Monday.

Memorial falls to La Porte

LA PORTE — The Port Arthur Memorial baseball team lost 12-1 to La Porte in District 21-5A play.

Memorial (11-14, 3-9) ended its season with the loss.
