Indians ousted early on Saturday

COLLEGE STATION — Port Neches-Groves’ run at the Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament came to a quick end on Saturday in College Station.

Cedar Ridge ended PN-G’s tournament with a 45-34 win in the first game of the consolation bracket. The Indians went 0-3 on Friday.

PN-G put up 290 yards Saturday and scored on five of its nine possessions against Cedar Ridge who crossed the endzone seven of 10 times.

Quarterback Ky Walker remained hot for the Indians. He completed 30-of-35 passes with two interceptions and five interceptions. Walker was alone at quarterback after a back injury kept Adam Morse from stepping on the field Saturday. Morse left Friday’s game against Houston Lamar before it ended.

Walker on Saturday threw three touchdowns to Kaleb Sparks and two scores to Jack Giblin. Walker was 70-for-91 at the tournament while Morse finished 19-for-37.
