SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: PN-G quickly beats Central

BEAUMONT — Port Neches-Groves 24, Central 2

BEAUMONT — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians made quick work of the Beaumont Central Lady Jaguars Friday night.

PN-G defeated Central 24-2 in three innings to move to 5-5 in District 20-4A play. The Lady Indians are alone in fourth place heading into today’s 11 a.m. game against Nederland. The Lady Bulldogs are 7-3 after Friday’s 3-1 loss to Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

PN-G smashed 15 hits Friday night as Avery Hooks had a great game at the plate.

Hooks was 1-for-2 with a triple, three walks, four runs and two stolen bases. Bailey Crorey was 3-for-3 with a triple, two walks and four runs while Katie Lee was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

Kennah Belaire was 2-for-2, Madison Resch was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs and Taylor Thompson was 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Breanna Brown finished 2-for-3 with three runs and Maci Dean was 1-for-1.

Resch got the win on the mound and struck out three batters.

Bridge City 4, Buna 1

BUNA — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals squeezed out a 4-1 District 21-3A victory over the Buna Lady Cougars at Lady Cougar Field Friday.

Kellyn Cormier got the win on the hill for the Lady Cardinals (19-8, 6-3). She went the distance, allowing just three hits while striking out two and walking one.

Faith Kaufman was 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run.

Baili Thibodaux had a double, a RBI and scored. Kaleigh Carter singled, drove in a run and scored.

Kasey Frederick, Kelsey Fults and  Abby Faulk all added hits for the BC attack.

The Lady Cardinals will have a bye Tuesday and will play host to Silsbee next Friday.

Orangefield 4, Silsbee 0

ORANGEFIELD — The first-place Orangefield Lady Bobcats blanked the Silsbee Lady Tigers 4-0 in District 21-3A action at Lady Bobcat Field Friday night.

Khandi Breaux got the win on the mound for the Lady Bobcats (17-3, 8-1) as she struck out seven Lady Tigers (5-4 in district).

Katelyn Dickerson had two hits and two RBI for the Lady Cats.

Haley Fontenot had a single and a RBI. Kaylie Evans and Kylie Bradley both had singles.

The Lady Bobcats host Hamshire-Fannett Tuesday.
