BEAUMONT — Port Arthur Memorial 6, Beaumont West Brook 5
BEAUMONT – The Port Arthur Memorial Titans for the second time this District 21-5A season defeated the Beaumont West Brook Bruins.
This time the Titans won 6-5 behind solid pitching and a consistent offense.
Robert Howard notched the win on the mound with 4.1 innings of work with four runs and four hits allowed with two walks and five strike outs. Gama Martinez worked two innings and gave up a run and four hits with two strike outs. Ramiro Sanchez got the save.
Jose Perez was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double while Martinez was 3-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Sanchez was 2-for-2 with a RBI, Torian Lott was 1-for-4 with a RBI and Abraham Cuevas had a RBI.
Memorial ends its season Friday with a home game against La Porte.
Nederland 9, Lumberton 0
LUMBERTON – It was a good day for Korey Clark Monday against the Lumberton Raiders.
The Nederland ace struck out seven and allowed only three hits in seven innings as the Bulldogs defeated the Raiders, 9-0. Nederland is now 10-3 in District 20-4A play with only one game left. Vidor is also 10-3 while Lumberton fell to 7-4 and was eliminated Monday from playoff contention.
Clark also went 2-for-3 with a run, a RBI and a double.
Colby Price was 4-for-4 at the plate with a run and a RBI while Zach Friesz had two RBI. Colton Broussard was 2-for-5 with a run and Chase Kemp was 2-for-4 with two runs.
Nederland wraps up its district season this Friday at home against Beaumont Central.
The Port Neches-Groves Indians wrapped up a 20-4A spot Monday with a 14-0 win over Beaumont Ozen. Lance LaDoux had a triple.
The Indians (9-4) joined Nederland, Vidor and Livingston as the playoff teams out of the district.
