Nederland capsule: The Bulldogs have now won 12 straight District 20-4A games. … Last Friday’s victory over Livingston marked the first time this season quarterback Carson Raines was not directly involved in a touchdown. Raines has thrown fOR eight TDs and run for five this season. Against Livingston, Kendrick Hopkins and Michael Shaw had rushing TDs while Seth Barrow threw a TD pass to Zach Taylor…. Korbin Stampley led the Bulldogs in tackles against Livingston, totaling 10. The senior linebacker has 38 tackles this season. … Colton Kimler added to his district-leading interception total with another pick against Livingston. He has four on the season, two more than second place in 20-4A. Last season, Trey Broussard led the Bulldogs in the regular season with three INTs in 10 games. The 20-4A leader last season was Livingston’s Bryant McClendon who had eight.
LC-M capsule: The Bears are 2-3 this season and 1-1 in district play. They beat Coldspring-Oakhurst 35-20 in Week 2 after Coldspring had beaten the class of Class 3A La Marque the week before. LC-M is coming off a 35-7 victory over PN-G last week. The Bears have scored at least 35 points in every game except Week Zero’s 18-0 loss to West Orange-Stark. In two of the three Bears’ losses, their defense has given up 40 or more points. … LC-M is led offensively by running back Alex Sezer. The Texas A&M commit has rushed for 667 yards on 104 carries this season with nine TDs. Quarterback Caleb Harley has completed 84 percent of his passes for 666 yards with seven TDs and four INTs. … LC-M’s Casey Viator is leading 20-4A in receiving with 19 catches for 230 yards and a TD. Bears running back Dalton Doyle is the district leader in receiving yards with 333 on 14 catches with four TDs.
Neumann said: “Their quarterback is a very good passer. He’s a timely passer. He doesn’t waste much time getting the pass off. He doesn’t drop very deep and gets the pass off quickly. He’s got some excellent receivers, too. Dalton Doyle has breakaway speed. If you’re talking offense, you have to start with Sezer. Angles of pursuit and containment are going to be very important. They’ve got a big offensive line that does a good job too.”
