Raines leads Nederland past Vidor
NEDERLAND – Nederland head baseball coach Cody Robbins had his entire pitching staff ready and available for Saturday’s game against Vidor. Carson Raines made sure he only needed one pitcher, as the senior right-hander struck out 12 in a 3-1 victory over the Pirates at Metreyeon Delahoussaye Field in District 20-4A play.
With Port Neches-Groves losing to Livingston Friday and beating Lumberton Saturday, Nederland sits alone atop the district standings, a game ahead of the Indians.
Raines allowed one run on three hits in 7 innings of work, needing just 87 pitches to complete the game and getting eight ground ball outs. Over the last five games, Nederland’s pitchers have allowed just four runs and have only given up two runs in the past four games combined.
Nederland (17-3, 7-1) will travel to Livingston at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
